So styled for Ramadan
At 8-9 weeks pregnant and in the midst of the Ramadan heat in Dubai, dressing for the month and season can be complicated. On the whole, I am feeling hot and flustered for most of the day and getting dressed up for Iftars and events can be a little difficult – trying to dress the bump, feel good and make the most of the season’s trends.
I visited Lilis Boutiques (@lilis_boutiques) in City Walk, a quaint store with a really unique selection of kaftans. The highlight of the collection were the unique styles that had a very different take on the traditional dress.
Like with any new brand, I asked about the origin of the concept. The brand started in Jeddah 10 years ago and the rails feature beautiful styles and variety such as Asian Florals, Moroccan Vintage Tiles, Native Aztec, Jungle and African prints. Most often these pieces are designed and altered exclsuively for Lilis Boutique so you have that sense of a customized creation in every piece. As well as altering designs for modesty purposes, Lilis also want the pieces to be easy and versatile, so the kaftan can be worn to a mall, for a lunch date or even on a beach in Bali.
The styles and cuts of the pieces are extremely flattering – whether you’re a bit large (like me) or regular in size. They also lend themselves to being really dressed up, or more casually styled while still looking trendy and not too traditional. So for me, the perfect balance of a cultural yet curated look. The best part – each rail had a completely different collection… from a Grecian range of blues and whites, to light cottons with bright threads, tassled and fringed embellished pieces and those glistening shimmering fabrics too. No two pieces look the same which makes choosing your favorite a challenging decision.
You will find these fun and colorful pieces at Lilis at City Walk 2. There is parking located in the street behind the boutique, as well as a road level parking lot so you don’t need to park in the larger underground parkade.

Happy Eid shopping!
